P&H CENTRAL

Streamline digital business with farmers, offering more features and real-time data

PROJECT GOAL

Create a connected system to conduct business digitally

Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) is a Canadian agricultural company that operates in grain trading, handling, merchandising, and crop inputs and flour milling.

The primary goal of this project was to create a custom P&H portal and app, eliminating the need to rely on a third-party option with limited functionality.

Agency: AdFarm

Client: Parrish & Heimbecker

My role: UX strategy, UX documentation, business and functional requirements, user testing

Key features

  • Customizable and accessible on the web, tablet, mobile web, and Apple and Android apps.

  • Real-time synchronization with P&H systems.

  • Historical document access, delivery status, and contract details.

  • Ability to create, edit, or cancel Grain Pricing Orders (GPOs).

Accessibility and convenience are critical

On-the-go access: Farmers and grain buyers often work in remote areas and spend significant time in the field. A mobile app allows them to access their contracts, check prices, and make decisions wherever they are, without needing to be at a computer.

Real-time updates: Market conditions, weather, and other factors can change rapidly. A well-designed app enables users to receive real-time updates and alerts, allowing them to make timely decisions.

User testing: Moderated user feedback from farmers provided valuable insights. For example, P&H previously presented information in metric tons, but farmers typically work in bushels. This change allowed farmers to quickly determine load sizes without having to calculate the conversion each time.

RESULT

The app launched successfully with no major reported bugs. It exceeded performance expectations and received positive reviews.
